Gentleness First
Tell-show-do, always. Nothing touches a tooth before a child understands what it is and why it helps.
Home · About Us
Lantern Lane Pediatrics began with a simple belief: no child should fear the dentist. Fifteen years later, that belief shapes every room, every tool, and every visit.
Dr. Nora Whitfield opened Lantern Lane with two treatment rooms, a toy chest, and a waiting list of families who had heard about the dentist who never rushed. Today our Portland clinic cares for more than 2,500 young patients — many of whom started with us as toddlers and now walk in, wave hello, and hop into the chair on their own.
We pair modern, low-dose digital imaging and whisper-quiet instruments with old-fashioned patience: every procedure is explained first, demonstrated on a puppet or a fingertip, and paced to your child's comfort — never the clock.
Tell-show-do, always. Nothing touches a tooth before a child understands what it is and why it helps.
You hear the full picture in plain language, see the same images we see, and decide together with us.
Cleanings, fluoride, sealants, and habit guidance that keep small issues from ever becoming big ones.
Tour the clinic, meet the team, and let your child pick a sticker from the famous treasure wall — all before any treatment begins. First visits include a full exam, gentle cleaning, fluoride, and a take-home smile kit.
Sunlit treatment suites, whisper-quiet tools, a toy corner in every room — and a team that explains everything before it happens. Come see it in person: book a visit.
